AI for business software
AI that earns its keep, or doesn't ship.
Most "AI features" are a chat box bolted onto a product with no idea what it costs to run or whether it is right. We build AI the way we build everything else: scoped to a job, connected to your real data with read-only hands, evaluated before it ships, and metered so the running cost is a line item rather than a surprise. We have shipped it in our own products first.
What's included
Every engagement covers
- Discovery: which jobs a model can actually do well, and which it should not touch
- Assistants over your own data — CRM, documents, activity — with tool use restricted to reading
- Conversation intelligence: scoring, summarisation, and next-best-action from real threads
- Automation with a model in the loop, and a human gate wherever the action is irreversible
- Evaluation sets built from your data, run before every change ships
- Per-call cost accounting by feature, priced to the token
- Prompt, model and vendor abstraction, so you are not married to one provider
How it runs
The process
- 01
Find the job
We map where people in your business read, summarise, classify or decide by hand, and pick the one where a model is clearly better than the status quo — not the flashiest.
- 02
Wire the data
The model gets read access to the systems it needs through tools, never a copy-paste of your database. Permissions follow the user asking, not the model.
- 03
Evaluate
Before anyone sees it, it runs against a set of real cases with known-good answers. If it cannot clear the bar, we tell you, and it does not ship.
- 04
Meter and ship
Every call is logged and priced, by feature. You launch knowing what it costs per use, and you see it drift before your bill does.
AI for business software — questions
Will an AI assistant make things up about my business data?
It can, which is why ours are built to read from your systems through tools rather than answer from memory, and to say when they do not know. We also run every change against an evaluation set built from your own real cases before it ships. It is not infallible; it is measured, and the measurement is what makes it safe to use.
How much does it cost to run AI features?
Usually far less than people fear, and far more variable than they expect. A well-scoped assistant costs cents per conversation; an unscoped one can cost dollars. Every model call we ship is logged and priced by feature, so you see the running cost per use from day one rather than discovering it on an invoice.
Do you fine-tune models or train on our data?
Almost never. For nearly every business use, a strong off-the-shelf model with the right context and tools outperforms a fine-tuned one, and it costs a fraction and stays current. We reach for fine-tuning only when there is a measured gap that context cannot close.
Where does our data go?
To the model provider you choose, for the duration of the request, under their enterprise terms — and nowhere else. We do not train on it, retain it beyond what the feature needs, or route it through third-party middleware. Self-hosted models are an option where the data cannot leave your infrastructure.
Have you actually shipped this, or is it a slide deck?
Shipped and running. Lotline, our automotive CRM, scores deal health and drafts next actions from real conversations. Cortex, the command center MannCave.Dev runs on, has a read-only assistant over its own data with every call priced to the token on its own page. Both are on the work page with screenshots.
Can you add AI to software you did not build?
Yes, provided it has an API or a database we can read. The assistant sits alongside the existing system rather than inside it, which is often the better architecture anyway — it can be replaced, metered and switched off independently.
